Duplicate table
In my program i need to duplicate a table in a current data base.
I'm thinkin' of reading the data base columns and then rows and so i
create another table
Is there any other easy and fast method with SQL Server 2005, because
my idea is so slow
I'm using VB 2005 Express with SQL Server 2005 Express
Thanks
To duplicate the table columns and data, just:
SELECT * INTO Newtable FROM Oldtable
However this will not copy indexes, access privileges, etc.
To get everything you must script the table to create it, and then add the
data, perhaps with
INSERT INTO NewTable SELECT * FROM Oldtable
Of course, using column names instead of * would be a better practice.

And might be necessary, e.g. for IDENTITY/ROWVERSION...

If you just want to create copy the data then you could use
SELECT *
INTO #temptable
FROM Mytable
Which will create a new table with the contents of the old table, but
the new table will not have the constraints such as primary or foreign
keys and indexes that the original table had. If you dont want the
table but just the columns use a where clause that will never be
satisfied such as
WHERE 1 = 0
Alternatively you can use SMO see Allen Whites posts in the thread

Dual axes in RS2k5
possible to create column charts with dual axes, in particular with a dual y
axis.
I've been playing around with the charts but I can't seem to find a way to
do this. Did this functionality find its way into the product in the end? How
is it done?
Thanks,
Matt.Hi Matt,
Welcome to use MSDN Managed Newsgroup!
From your descriptions, I understood would like to know whether Dual axes
will be supported in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. If I have
misunderstood your concern, please feel free to point it out.
Unfortunately, dual axes are not supported in the built-in charting
included with SQL Server 2005 RS. However, Dundas (see
http://www.dundasreporting.com/home/index.aspx) will be providing a plug-in
that supports this functionality.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are always here to be of
assistance!
Sincerely yours,
Michael Cheng

DTS to Excel Export - Changing Format
I have a dts package which is reading from a sql table and writing it to an excel file, its working fine except that I have a decimal field in the sql table but in excel file its writing it as string field.
The way I create this package is that I create a template file and I format that column to a "Number" format. Then I take this template file, rename it, export all the data to this file.
But when I open this file that decimal field is displayed as a string column and its left aligned.
Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks,I've never seen this happen. You aren't wrapping you values in quotes are you when you export them.|||No, I am not wrapping values in quotes.
